Just the best day ever!
Raglan waves,  rosé iceblocks, mountain tops, sea air, tears, veils flying, confetti, sunset cliff tops, the best of friends, lush florals, deep fried chips, neon signs, family from all over, sparklers, shots, ice cream for dessert, dances and too much laughter – we had a ball!

What was your vision for the day?
We wanted a natural but romantic feel to our day with as many personal touches as possible. I would describe the wedding day vibe as loving, fun, floral and intimate. It was important to spend as much time with our guests as possible so we had “first look” photos before the ceremony and took all our photos with our wedding party beforehand. The whole day was planned with our favourite things in mind.

What was your floral inspo?
I knew I didn’t want to compromise on my flowers, but I had a vision of the style I liked and initially couldn’t find a florist that suited this. During the early stages of planning the wedding, Bridget (TWWC) was working in the office so I would see her often, and having so many contacts in the wedding industry, she suggested On My Hand, and that was the end of my search for a florist. Shaye’s creations are wild and wonderful and suited Raglan’s setting perfectly. Shaye created my flowers based on my favourite lipstick colours and it was beyond my wildest dreams. The floral arch is what dreams are made of! So beautiful.

Why Raglan?
We’ve always envisioned getting married near the sea, with epic ocean views. Raglan has such a chill vibe that we both love. We wanted our wedding to accentuate the beauty of our setting/surroundings and to embrace the wilderness of the west coast.

What was the best thing about Rock-it as a wedding venue?
So relaxed and very accommodating. We had already been there a few times for dinner etc so we knew the food was incredible. Sarah was great to communicate with and even suggested Dizzy Blocks, which was such a fabulous addition to our day. Highly recommend.
It was great having Bridget (The White Wedding Club) onboard as well because she already had relationships with most of the venues and vendors in Raglan so she was invaluable in the lead up to the wedding.

Special elements/ favours..
Raglan has some incredible local businesses and we love Raglan Roast coffee, so I knew I wanted to incorporate that into our wedding favours. We gave our guests tubes of plunger coffee which hopefully they loved.

Tell us about your dress.
I saw my dress at the NZ Wedding Magazine Fashion Show, it was the closing dress for Hera Couture and it was love at first sight. The romance of the tulle and details of the petals made my heart happy. Katie Yeung, the creative genius behind the brand is just amazing. She created a custom-made bespoke dress for me, with the skirt more fitting and with fewer layers than the classic lavant dress and it was truely beautiful.

Tell us a bit about the food.. (food truck, dizzy blocks)
Definitely one of my favourite parts of the day. The menu for dinner worked out so well, having a “Surf and Turf” selection, catering well for all our guests. Rock-it also makes the most delicious fries, and so we had to have that. Dizzy Blocks were awesome – Maree made the most delicious ice blocks; we had a Rosé option and Lemonade option.

Were there any unexpected moments of the day?
We had the most magical and breathtaking sunset! Our photos are out of this world. It was so lovely to have an hour with Jase to just be, and enjoy our newly married bubble. We are hoping to make a bit of a tradition out of it, and watch a sunset on our anniversary every year.

Who was your photographer and why did you choose them?
The Official Photographers. My sister has been following their work for a while, and so suggested them. They were the first thing we booked because their work is so incredible and we didn’t want to miss out on having them. I love their bright colours and how they capture those amazing candid shots. They are very personable and we had the best day with Shan. Highly highly recommend.
